Why is it called the first weekend of August for a weekend vacation in Ontario? |

After the United States moved holidays, so that they were a long holiday Monday, a few were for the government holidays (Columbus Day, Presidents Day come to mind.) Most of the normal activities are open. Got a real person that represents your holiday and a good period of 'years. Good website for information on http://www.toronto.com/travel/article/000-000-317 |

August 6 is a holiday in Ontario. It goes by many names, but in most cases it is only a holiday for the unions, banks and government employees. For the rest of us to have a long week-end of our employers have to give us the day. This rarely happens. So why no mention of a holiday and the weekend because we allow this to happen every year? The answer is simple. Only the government can change the rules and receiving the day. Why should be care? |
