You can buy a cat carrier from veterinary pet or any store, make sure the line with something soft, so the cat can sleep while you travel, if you have to travel by train to see if it is possible to reserve seats sit in order to have somewhere apartment for the cat to rest while you travel, like all the shock and concern about their upset. Hope this helps and you have a good holiday.

I think it will be a little 'stressful for a cat on vacation with you before they will go to quainitine of age and is not fair to your cat, cannot your nextdoor neighbor, after his eye on someone that you know, good luck, but please do not take me with you, his will be scared and afraid best left at home. sorry

I toook my cat thirteen hours of travel by train once, we were good. If your cat is not accustomed to it, it might be an idea to get a sedative from the vet. Get a good cat carrier, do not feed for twelve hours without water for three hours before. Medium, it can give a 'water, feed, when you arrive. Give it a toy or two, and a comfortable blanky. Trains, buses, cars, etc. are fine, it's a little 'more complicated to book a cat on a plane.

Until we were planning on going abroad, the cat should be ok in a regular cat carrier if you can give him / her food and water and be sure to have a litter tray to use at some point, if it is really a long trip, make a stop along the road to allow this, even a little 'Bachs Rescue Remedy few drops on the tongue is the cat calms down.

Call your veterinarian, ask what you can give the cat a sedative very weak during the train. then placed in a pet cat. everyone should be fine.

It depends on the length of time you are going. My cat went on the train. In mid-journey, I was allowed to give him water. Ask the service manager on board the train. The total time was in his cage was about 9 hours. Put your smell something you like in its cage, a toy, and a convenient carpet. And when you arrive at your destination to ensure that a LitterBox and food and water. Do not worry:)
