Under the Working Time Regulations your employer is required to provide 4 weeks of paid leave, which may include public holidays and 8 public holidays and 12 days in total another 20 days. In this case, the employer can do what they have and at present there is nothing that can be done. However, the European Court of Justice has ruled that public holidays including, as part of the allowance is illegal under European law, but until the government amended the regulation only the employees of the State may make a challenge for the holidays rules.

I have no idea what the first person who is talking about a response. I had a job where I worked 6 days a week for two years, was not given vacation time. I worked Christmas Eve and Easter Day, etc. They should not give anything, even if I do not think that they are allowed to say what day you MUST take off with the vacation time if you dare. If they are closed on holidays, then cannot say that is a public holiday

If you do not have a right to paid leave on bank and public holidays. If leave is given on a bank or public holiday, this can count towards your minimum of four weeks right. There are eight permanent bank holidays in Britain. If you work in a bank or public holiday, there is no automatic right to a higher rate of pay. What you get paid depends on your employment contract. If full-time workers get paid leave on a public holiday, part-time workers who do not normally on that day are entitled to paid time on another day, in proportion to the hours of work.

I think we can be right on this one. When I worked for a film company, we had to take 2 weeks during their arrest outside of our holiday!

At the time my employer insists that I take Christmas and Boxing Day, as part of my four weeks paid holiday. Even New Year. We do not have any of the so-called statuatory days. This is legal, what are my rights?
