December 25 was chosen because it is near the winter solstice. The people believed that they could be encouraged to return Sunday to the north of the rituals on the day the winter solstice. Eggs and rabbits were associated with the symbols of fertility Ishtar. This may be why store flyers say "Happy Holidays" instead of "Merry Christmas". The right-wing politicians try to use Christmas as a matter of breaking down the separation between church and state so they can raise their donors.

Christmas was originally the celebration of the birthday of the god of Easter Sunday is actually Ishtar, the celebration of the goddess of fertility, and Halloween is one of the most evil and bad days out there. I say all this and I am a Christian. Not a Mormon, a Jehovah white, Catholic, Pentecostal, prosperity gospel, blab and grab or new age-er. Chances68 19/09/08	Pagan and as a historian, I insist on the fact that Christians who ask questions as to why non-Christians celebrate Easter or Christmas to remember that these days are just disguised Pagan holiday. E 'un po' what I like to call the historical truth. Investigate. However, it is clear Christian connotations Thanksgiving, although certainly the harvest festivals were charged at the same time next year on pre-Christian Europe. July 4th is neither charged nor Christian. This is a secular patriotic celebration. Nice straw man you set up there!

They are intelligent enough to know that the "religious" are the ones based on pagan origin: Christmas, Easter, Halloween, Thanksgiving (harvest celebrations earlier Christianity, please), etc.

The early church wanted to eliminate paganism, and convert them to Christianity, and what better way to do it, then turning their holy days in yours? It is not just manufacturing atheist, it is historical fact. Look it up yourself.

pab 19/09/08	What part of Christianity involves a Christmas tree? Or Santa Claus? Easter is not a pagan festival, but has been secularized not very many religious people (an Easter bunny and colored eggs?). Thanksgiving Day and Independence are American holidays. Completely secular.
