Disko Island 2007
This summer 70 adventurers, including 51 young people, spent 5 weeks on Disko Island, Greenland with BSES Expeditions. They were 5 exciting weeks of exploring, living in tents, science and appreciating. Through art projects and their own initiative the Young Explorers responded creatively and originally to the landscape, expedition life and each other.
The art projects, sketchbooks, journals, observations, poetry, science projects, discussions about John Muir and The Wilderness, plus the awareness and skills gained from simply living and travelling in the Greenland; the valleys, mountains and glaciers, made up the expedition’s all-encompassing ‘Greenland Appreciation’ project.
This mass of information and collective experience will take the form of a book and a presentation at the Royal Geographical Society, London in January 2008 (For more information, see BSES Expedition in ‘Links’).
